Before I enter heaven,
May I pause a moment at the gates?
To gaze on through the bars,
And stare into my fate?
Before I enter heaven,
May I greet my lover there,
With Death behind our sorry souls,
Will we resume with our affair?
Before I enter heaven,
May I make some questions clear,
About why I’ve lived and why I’ve died
And why I am idling here?
Before I enter heaven,
May I take a moment to say goodbye?
To the life I knew, and people too,
Who’ll mourn me when I die?
